Measuring about 35" x 23", this architectural or engineering blueprint is titled "Duct & Trench Layout, Transmitter Building - Type A." The title block further identifies the originators of the blueprint as the Engineering Division at Andrews Air Force Base, Washington 25, DC, which is further defined as "HQ AACS D/MAT." It is undated, but there are some clues in the title block, so let's try to unscramble those. First, the lack of a zip code in the address dates the item to the mid-1960's or earlier, and the acronyms "AACS" and "MAT" might narrow the range even more. "AACS" could stand for either Army Airways Communications Service (in existence 1943-1946) or Airways and Air Communications Service (1946-1961). My choice would be the latter if I'm right about the acronym "MAT" meaning Military Air Transport (Service), which was in existence under that name from about 1948-1966. The overlap period of AACS and MAT would therefore be 1948-1961, so I'm going to say probably 1950's, but could be a decade either side. If your knowledge of the history of Andrews Air Force Base confirms or contradicts my deductions and assumptions, please let me know.
