SUPERMARINE SPITFIRE MK.IX

This is our version of a Supermarine Spitfire Mk IX in the form of a garden ornament.

It responds to the wind has proper weathertight stainless steel bearings and stainless steel fixings, along with genuine UV stable Perspex acrylic panels.

This Spitfire looks amazing shimmering in the sun on a breezy day. It is 520mm long (20 ½”) and 592mm wide (23 ¼”), and the Propeller is c.300mm wide. (12”). 

The whole piece reflects light in a very pleasing way, especially the propeller and the ‘clearer-than-glass’ Perspex looks very smart with its laser engraved markings (no stickers here).

This kit is our own design, we make them to order at our small home-based workshop in Yorkshire.

The propeller has two sealed stainless steel deep-groove ball bearings as does the supporting pivot post which is far superior to everything else I’ve seen.

The fuselage as a whole is reasonably well scaled to the original aircraft but the propeller is a little oversized. The Spitfire turns itself into the wind and its propeller makes the most of a breeze.

Care should be taken when assembling this kit but it should still take less than an hour. N.B. Please read the instructions carefully before starting your build.
