A ‘True vintage’, Made in Occupied Japan (leaning back) with postured flared wings— duck figurine. 

Measures approximately 7 1/2” tall. 

Ceramic with hand painted features and glossy glaze. Ducks & geese were popular figurines by various companies, however each was different, not only because they were hand painted, & for instance -- this figure, has attached wings, which was an expensive and more difficult part of the making back in the day. The body cast, wings were attached separately, kiln fired,hand painted and kiln fired again with glaze.

His wings flair outward from his body (see pics) and he leans back in a stance on his cobalt blue base, as if taken aback by something. A mix of diamond shaped textures and indented rounds on the base add an interesting touch. 

Marked: Made in Occupied Japan (company unknown).  I lightly cleaned him, but you may want to do better.

Overall in excellent condition. No chips, cracks — typical age crazing to the glaze.

“Occupied Japan” refers to the years 1945 through 1951 when western forces occupied Japan for 6 years —  a timeframe for dating the above vintage duck. 

 Soda can only used only for size reference.
