THIS WATCH HAD A CENTRE SECOND HAND THAT COULD BE STOPPED AND RESET LIKE A STOP
WATCH HAND TO MEASURE TIME ELAPSED THE WAY IT DID THIS WAS TO HAVE A 3 POSITION
CROWN SET WHICH STOPPED AND THEN RESET THE SECOND HAND TO 12 O’CLOCK. THIS
INNOVATIVE WRIST WATCH WAS NEVER REALLY VERY POPULAR SO LOW NUMBERS OF THEM
WERE SOLD WHICH MAKES THEM QUITE A RARE COMMODITIY FOR COLLECTORS TO FIND.
THIS PARTICULAR PHENIX CHRONOSTOP OFFERED FOR SALE TODAY HAS
JUST BEEN FULLY SERVICED BY MY PROFESSIONAL WATCH MAKER AT GREAT COST. IT HAS
BEEN DIS-ASSEMBLED TO ITS COMPONENT PARTS, CLEANED OILED RE-ASSEMBLED AND
TIMED. IT IS IN GOOD AESTHETIC CONDITION READY TO USE FOR THE NEXT 60+
YEARS THAT IT HAS ALREADY BEEN AROUND FOR.

'This vintage Phenix ‘Chronostop’ bears a surprise, a rare sweep second start-stop-reset feature! It works like a chronograph operated just with a winding crown. It was designed for medical (pulsometric), sport and military daily use. The same function can be found in A. Lange and Glashutte Original watches nowadays. Highly collectible, it’s rare to see a piece like this in such good condition.'
DESCRIPTION:
CASE:
This is a lovely chrome/steel round shaped screw back watch
case. The bezel shows normal age related wear scratches to the chromed bezel, lugs
and the chromed edges of the case back. The steel case screw back is in very
good condition. The case measures approximately 33mm (3.3cms) in width
excluding the crown and lugs. The inside of the case back is unsigned.
DIAL:
This lovely rare chronostop wristwatch has a beautiful original
satin white dial with a light patina. The dial has some light marks through
normal age related use. The dial is fully signed by Phenix and has ‘Swiss made’
to the dial bottom. The hands are gold in colour and are in very good order.
They have lume infill which is still present. The chronostop centre seconds
hand is also gold in colour and is in good condition. The dial has applied
golden Arabic numerals which are in very good condition.
MOVEMENT:
This beautiful wrist watch has a lovely fully signed Phenix cal
132 17 jewel chronostop movement. This movement has been FULLY SERVICED BY MY
PROFESSIONAL TIME SERVED WATCHMAKER. It has been fully dis-assembled, cleaned,
re-assmbled, oiled and timed. This movement has the very rare ‘chronostop’
feature. The crown has 3 positions and pulling it out to the 3rd
position resets the centre second hand to 12 o’clock for a rudimentary timing
feature. This is a true rarity.
BAND:
This lovely watch has been fitted with a brown genuine leather
band with a steel tone buckle. The band measures approximately just under 9
inches in total length. As it is new and unworn it is in minty condition.
Please remember that vintage watches
have survived for many decades by being treated well. Vintage watches are not
for wearing while doing yard work, working out, or swimming. Vintage watches
cannot keep time like their quartz cousins and will need altering on average
between +-2 to +-5 mins per day. They are a little more destructible than modern
watches. Vintage watches also require periodic service and cleaning. Every
couple of years, they would like their 20,000 mile checkup, oil change, and
general service. By taking care of your vintage watch, you will have years of
great service, and a quality heirloom to pass to another generation.
