Leakage is the first sign that your PVB is not functioning properly. the Bonnet & Poppet will break usually becase of ice formed inside the sprinkler system. In order to protect the much more expansive system from total crackdown, the water inside the sprinkler system should be emptyed in advance during the icy weather to avoid damage.
The product design prevents freeze damage to the bronze body and limits damage to less expensive internal components, provides longer life and more reliable operation.
