This is a set of five matching salt dips/cellars. They are iridescent off-white on the inside, and gold on the outside. Simple and elegant.
Marked on the bottom with a wreath, inside of which is the word "ROYAL." Underneath is the word "AUSTRIA."
On most of these salt dips/cellars, the letters "O.& E.G" are on top of the wreath. On one of them are letters that appear to be CND. Maybe these are the initials of the painter of these salts? I do not know why these letters are different. I have that in a close-up (although I wish I could get a much better close-up).
This company was active from approximately 1889 to 1918.
I found these at an estate sale years ago, and loved them. I have stored them carefully in our non-smoking, but pet-friendly, home.
Set of five in excellent condition. I see a tiny, light scratch here and there, which would be normal wear in something that is a hundred years old.
