Yellow-green covers with bright gilt title on front, small gilt title on spine which has dulled a bit and shows some wear, very readable. Spine has turned deeper color from age/exposure, spine edges are rubbed, spine ends worn and thin. Front cover has several small black (ink?) marks, a little rough spot above the E and D in Reading on front cover. Tiny round gouge, couple of short bubbles near front edge of front cover; both covers with light shelf and use soil. Cover edges lightly worn, tips with wear-through at points, bit of fray, bottom back tip bumped with 2 creases showing, other tips lightly dumped with no creases. Dime=size dark spot on back cover near bottom edge at front edge. Back cover front edge and top edge of back cover with short, small bumped dent. Covers good at binding. There is no dust jacket; book measures 5.25 x 8.0".

Table of Contents in 4 parts with total of 19 chapters. Book consists of 229 pages of which 9 are index.

Top leaf edge still quite good gold color; front and bottom leaf edges with several small brown age spots and light soil. Page 7 has a eraser-size dark brown spot which has migrated onto 9 preceding pages and 7 pages following page 7, all spots are in margins, no text involved. Few other small brown age spots, slight use or handling soil on pages, pages tight at binding. It appears the page preceding title page was either left out or was carefully removed, there is a narrow strip of paper in that area. Last page of index at front edge has 1" long, 1/2" wide piece that is gone, it appears to be mouse nibbled, but only that one page, above this small area is tiny, closed nibble.

Book has only very slight old odor; pages are ivory and the old-style paper that is a bit soft. Four pages at front (2 sheets) have very shallow, vertical creases. Owner name in black ink on first blank page; I believe this to be a 1-owner book as it came from the owner name's estate.
