5 vintage WMF dessert forks, hammered, 6 inches long, in excellent condition. Purchase includes the Gorham anti-tarnish bag in which they have been stored for decades. The back of each fork is imprinted with "WMF 90-18." The "90" indicates that the forks were silver plated with 90 grams of silver used to coat groups of 12 forks. (Lower-quality silver plated items could be produced using 60, 45 or even 20 grams of silver for 12 forks.).

WMF (short for Wurttembergische Mettallwarenfabrik) is a highly successful company based in Geislingen, Germany. Still in business, it was incorporated in 1880 and began producing high-quality silver-plated items including flatware at that time.

I found very similar (identical?) forks on-line listed as being WMF model # 7200. I do not know the age of these forks, but they were discovered wrapped in the anti-tarnish bag in a box of my mother's things which were mostly from the 1940's. Bag still works very well, because there was no sign of tarnish on any of the forks.
