Description

Moon Zappa, original mixed media painting (ink and pencil) on paper of a woman smoking presented to Alice, signed twice in the lower left and upper right next to her phone number, 9 by 11 1/2 inches, in excellent condition.  The painting comes from the estate of Alice Ritchey Warshaw, the Zappa's next door neighbor, who was a teacher at North Hollywood High School that taught art and art history.  The painting is undated but was likely created in the late 1970s when Moon was about 12 years old.  The woman in the image is Alice Ritchey.  This is one of several Moon Unit and Dweezil art works that I was able to acquire.

Frank Zappa lived in his Laurel Canyon home from 1969 to his death in 1993 and the Zappa family continued to live there until 2016 following the death of his wife.  The Warshaws lived in their Laurel Canyon home from 1971 until Alice died a few months ago.  The two families were close and often shared time together.   Alice encouraged the children to create art and they gave her several nice drawings.
