This rig became popular in South Africa and New Zealand and is fast becoming  the rig of choice for land based game fishing off the beach and rocks here in Aussie. The Slide Bait rig allows you to put BIG live and dead baits our further than ever before. Although it make look a bit wierd at first, the methodology is pretty simple. If you have ever cast out with just a sinker on you know how far it goes! Imagine getting a full mullet or live tailor out that far! Thats what this rig offers you. 

This rig uses the best quality stainless steel slide rig with built in lumo bead (Please do not confuse this top quality slider with the cheap and nasty, unwelded mild steel versions flooding the internet, jjust compare our product photo's to theirs!), fully welded stainless stopper ring, 110lb black coated wire, double crimped connections for extra strengh, plastic coated crimp connections to help prevent abrasion, 2 x 6/0 octopus circle hooks, one of which is fixed and one that is a sliding snelled hook. (Weight not supplied, just use an appropriate weight to suit the conditions, USE A GRAPPNEL /BREAK AWAY SINKER )

There are 2 basic slide rig versions, weighted & unweighted. (See our Rig 14 for the weighted version, which uses 8/0 octous beak hooks) Which type you use depends on a couple of factors but BOTH Slide Rig versions will work in any conditions with live or dead baits. The theory behind it is that a live bait will swim down to your sinker easier with an UNWEIGHTED Slide rig, the WEIGHTED Slide rig works well for dead baits when the tide is rough and incoming because it makes it harder for the rig to return back up the line due to the extra tension provided by the weight on the slide. Slide Rig Basic use:

1.CASTOUT  YOUR GRAPNEL/BREAKAWAY SINKER AS FARAS YOU CAN!
2.GENTLYJERK YOUR ROD SO THE SINKER SETS IN THE SAND
3.USEA ROD HOLDER AND WIND IN A LITTLE TO GET THE LINE TIGHT
4.BAITUP YOUR SLIDE RIG, UNCLIP IT AT THE SPRING AND ATTACH IT TO YOUR MAIN LINETHOUGH THE SPRING
5.DON’TFORGET TO CLIP THE SLIDE RIG BACK ON!
6.SLIDETHE RIG/BAIT DOWN YOUR MAIN LINE INTO THE WATER
7.USINGA “FLICKING” “MINI  STRIKING ACTION” TOMOVE THE ONE WAY SLIDE RIG DOWN THE LINE TO THE SINKER(MAKE SURE YOU GO ALL THE WAY TO THE STOPPER RING)
8.LOOSENYOUR DRAG!!!!!!
9.YOUNOW HAVE A BIG BAIT OR LIVEY IN AMONGST THE BIG ONES
10.GETREADY TO HANG ON!
