- Black & Galvanised Malleable Iron fittings are manufactured from cast iron alloy, which is mainly composed of iron, carbon and silicon, having a high strength, good toughness, plasticity (not brittle) and machinability, Casting results in a slightly rough/frosted surface for added character, and will paint/powder coat with ease
-
"Black" steel or "Black" malleable Iron is the
standard industry name given to none alloyed steel. The term black was
primarily use to differentiate between cast iron, where "white heart"
cast iron was brittle and not easily machinable, and "black heart"
was less brittle and machinable.
-
Black steel pipes and malleable iron fittings are grey in colour,
rather than black. If you would like black (or other colours), please let us
know since we offer a powder coating service in various colours. This however
is only economical to do for larger orders.
