Under the cover of darkness, six masked men raid what appears to be a respectable furniture factory - they steal heroin worth several million dollars. But the six are no ordinary thieves, but a group of former drug addicts who fight passionately against crime. Frustrated by the police's inability to deal with the city's dealers, the ex-junkies take on a powerful drug ring. They contact Lieutenant Virgil Tibbs, confess to him about the break-in and at the same time ask him for help and silence. Tibbs only accepts this reluctantly. And soon he finds himself caught between the police and the unscrupulous drug cartel, which wants to silence him forever.
