| Story
: |
While cleaning her old family home that will be demolished soon, Hitoto Tae (Kinami Haruka) comes across a box containing old letters and recipes left by her late mother (Kawai Michiko). When she was younger, Tae lived in Taiwan with her Japanese mother and Taiwanese father. Her mother tried her best to adapt to the foreign environment and learn Taiwanese cooking. After Tae's sister Yo (Fujimoto Izumi) was born, the family moved to Tokyo, but her father soon passed away. Despite the tough circumstances, Tae and Yo grew up well under the loving care of their mother, who continued to cook them the Taiwanese food of their memories. Twenty years after their mother's death, Tae and Yo realize the secret she left behind and set out to their childhood hometown in Taiwan to trace their mother's past and cooking. Directed by Shiraha Mitsuhito (Bride of Noto), What's For Dinner, Mom?, which is based on the writings of Hitoto Tae, movingly depicts how the taste of home connects a mother to her daughters across time and from Japan to Taiwan.

DVD region codes is a
provision in the DVD Specifications that requires DVD
players to be hard-coded to accept DVDs that are only
meant to be played within one of six designated world
regions. A Region 3 disc cannot be played in a Region 1

to enable Hollywood companies to release movies at
different times in different regions.
