Amos incense

Amos incense is high quality incense, guaranteed, without treatments or added perfumes. It is extracted by the secretion from Africa. It can be used to perfume the atmosphere of your house and to mix with other flowers, herbs and resins for a nice incense blend, good smell and burn ability and good amount of smoke. Their scent does not cancel in the first place, but they are easily distinguished. Also, perfect to create your own incense blends and mixtures or incense sticks or incense cones.

Arabic Gum

Arabic gum is a complex mixture of polysaccharides (sugars) and glycoprotein that has a gentle scent (slightly sweet and fruity with a touch of nuts) however, in comparison to other resins it has a very mild scent. Arabic Gum is perfectly suited to making glues which are edible! Fix edible flowers, decorations and icing to cakes the natural way or use as a “lick able” adhesive on items such as stickers, envelopes, and postage stamps. The cosmetics and pharmaceutical industries often use this gum as a natural binding agent and emulsifier.

The name “elemi” is in the ordinary way practically restricted to the somewhat soft aromatic oleo resinous body collected in the Philippine Islands from one or more species of Canarium luzonicum. It is a mixture of resin with a certain amount of essential oil of pale colour, when it is known as soft elemi, or hard and semi-crystalline when less essential oil is present. The smell of elemi reminds one of a mixture of lemon und turpentine. Elemi has had countless uses through history but its use in aromatics is outstanding. It is a fair average of the figures obtained in the analysis of typical Manila elemi.

Copal

Our Copal Resin is not treated by heat and is in its natural state and comes from an evergreen tree native to East Africa, Madagascar and Indonesia which grows to a height of up to 25 metres. The bark of the tree is pale grey with a slight violet tint. The leaves are evenly pinnate, alternate overtly-oblong, asymmetric, 5-8cm in length, smooth, glossy and deep green in colour. The inflorescences form panicles of 5-petaled flowers with bracts at the base, white to yellowish-white in colour and 2.5-3cm in diameter. Use the resin on its own as incense, it blends well with other herbs and resins and is often used as a substitute for frankincense resin in blends. The resin can be turned into tincture or powdered to add to lotions, creams, balms and soaps for the skin.

Agatis Alba Incense

Agathis alba (Copal) is a resin that comes from Mexico, it is made from the Dacroydes peruviana tree, which is also called Agathis Alba. Often and effectively used to eliminate negative energy and chase away evil spirits. The word "copal" comes from the Aztec word copalli and simply means "incense". The copal has a light yellow or slightly orange colour, and when incinerated, it releases an exotic, forest, slightly lemon scent. It burns completely, leaving no trace on the charcoal. It has excellent fragrance, burns immediately and of good quality. The resin obtained from the tree is used in the treatment of arthritis and asthma. To treat arthritis, the resin is softened by steam or indirect heat (not open fire) and spread on cloth or gauze and applied over the affected area. Smoke from the burning resin is inhaled to treat asthma.

How to get started:

1. Fill the base of your burner 2/3 full with sand, rocks, or ash, forming this into a cone shape as best you can. The cone shape will allow for better airflow around the charcoal. Then place the charcoal on top.

2. Place a charcoal tablet onto the cone shaped sand, rocks or ash and light the edge of the charcoal. Some charcoals are self-igniting (these contain potassium nitrate) they will spark as you light it. Never hold the charcoal in your hand. If you need to hold it, use tongs or tweezers.

3. Some charcoals have an indentation on one side, if that is the case place your charcoal with the indentation side facing up. The indentation will hold your resin.

4. Wait until the charcoal is hot and covered with a thin layer of grayish ash. This can take about 5 minutes.

5. When the charcoal is ready add a small amount of your resin into the indentation of the hot charcoal.

6. Allow the resin to burn, releasing its fragrant smoke. When the smoke starts to thin out, add more incense as desired. Charcoal should last around 20 minutes.
