Before You Start - One Setting to Change

PlayStation 2: go to System Configuration on the console menu and set Component Video Out to Y Cb/Pb Cr. The PS2 remembers this setting, so if it was ever left on RGB the screen will stay black on component - that is the setting, not the cable.

PlayStation 3: go to Settings, Display Settings, Video Output Settings and choose Component / D-Terminal.

Then set your TV to the matching Component input - the green, blue and red video sockets, with the red and white audio pair alongside.

Please note: the AV Multi Out plug also fits a PlayStation 1 / PSone, but those consoles cannot output component video at all. Component is PS2 and PS3 only.

Product Overview

This bundle gives you the two essential cables you need to get your PlayStation 2 or PS3 Slim up and running with the best picture quality the console can deliver. You get a component HD video cable and an Australian power lead — both brand new, both 1.8 metres long, ready to plug in straight away.

Component Video Cable: Connects your console's AV Multi Out port to the YPbPr component inputs on your TV using five colour-coded RCA connectors — green (Y), blue (Pb), and red (Pr) for HD video, plus red and white for stereo audio. Component video delivers a significantly sharper picture than standard composite AV cables, supporting resolutions up to 480p on the PS2 and up to 1080i or 1080p on the PS3. An ideal upgrade if you have been using the basic yellow/red/white cables.

AU Power Lead: A standard figure-8 (IEC C7) mains cable fitted with an Australian 2-pin plug. Plugs directly into the power socket on the PS2 (fat), PS3 Slim, and PS3 Super Slim. On the PS2 Slim, the cable connects to the console's external AC adaptor.

Please note: This bundle is not compatible with the original fat PS3, which uses a different 3-pin (IEC C13) power connector. It is also not compatible with the PS1 or PSOne, which do not support component video output.
