KIDS HOLIDAY COLLECTION
(DVD)

A collection of 5 holiday-themed films (4 animated cartoons and 1 live-action move) on one DVD:

THE 12 DAYS OF CHRISTMAS: Narrated by a partridge, this charming animated tale explains the lengthy and confusing Christmas carol of the same name. The bold and brave Sir Carolboomer loves the melancholy Princess Silverbell. In order to win her heart he steals what he thinks is her Christmas list but what turns out to be the answers to the King's crossword puzzle. He mistakingly enlists his servant Hollyberry to find every item on her bizarre list, including a partridge in a pear tree, eight maids a milking, four calling birds...and so on. After twelve days of this gift giving, the Princess falls in love not with Carolboomer, but with the one who actually did the work, the noble Hollyberry.

MAGIC GIFT OF THE SNOWMAN: A magical snowman takes two children on the adventure of a lifetime! Everybody knows that Christmas is the time when miracles happen. And this exciting new tale is about a cool snowman who brings a very special gift to a little girl and her family. Emery Elizabeth is a little girl whose illness seems to make her weaker every day. But Emery's brother Landon has his own ideas about how to help his sister find the will to get better. Every day, Landon tells his sister a story about the coolest guy on the planet - Snowden the Snowman - who lives in an enchanted kingdom where there are no grownups, where beds are made from marshmallows and lullaby birds sing kids to sleep, where there's always fresh, white snow on the ground and, most importantly, where the good Princess Electra and her magical smile keep people happy all year round. But when Princess Electra's smile is stolen by the evil Charlatan, Lord of Yuck, Snowden comes alive and pulls Landon and Emery Elizabeth into his magical world for the adventure of a lifetime. And Emery must search deep within herself to find the strength she needs to save the day - and save herself.

THE TOY SHOP: This is a delightful and whimsical adventure where toys come to life and surprises are hidden behind every corner! Katherine and Matthew find themselves locked in a deserted toy shop in England. The two young cousins are amazed when they encounter Ruffles the Clown, Clarence the Clock, Wheelie the Truck, who is missing his tire, and Sarah, a beautiful little doll who adores Katherine. The toys share friendship and camaraderie, which comes in handy when an evil jack-in-the-box, Master Jack, decides he wants to conquer and rule them all. Katherine finds herself in his cross hairs when he tries to make her his queen with a spell that shrinks her to the size of a small doll. General Jack, a silver-haired wooden soldier, leads his brave band of toys into battle with determination and zeal because Katherine may stay small forever if a magical locket remains missing.

A CAROL CHRISTMAS: It's yet another version of Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol, with a gender-bender twist. Tori Spelling stars as Carol Cummings, a fabulously wealthy and enormously successful TV talk show host -- and a first-class shrew. Caring little for anything but the money and the celebrity that her job accrues, Carol mercilessly bullies and harangues everyone with whom she works, from her ulcerated producer Jimmy Fields (Michael Landes) to her long-suffering personal assistant Roberta Timmons (Nina Siemaszko), a single mom who dares not risk losing her job -- especially with Christmas just a few days away. While feverishly putting together a Yuletide TV special, Carol is visited by the ghost of her Aunt Marla (Dinah Manoff), who in her time was an even more insufferable diva than her niece. Warning Carol to change her ways before it is too late, Aunt Marla further proclaims that Carol will that evening be visited by three spirits who will show her the error of her ways. From this point forward it's the same old story, though it's fun to watch Gary Coleman as the Ghost of Christmas Past (appropriately in the form of a washed-up sitcom star!) and especially William Shatner as a Dr. Phil-style Ghost of Christmas Present. Also, the film represents one of the few times that the Scrooge character has a living love interest -- namely, Jason Brooks as John, a well-known Good Samaritan who continues to pine for Carol even after she has decided that he's the proverbial millstone around her neck.

THE NUTCRACKER: It is Christmas Eve, and the Stahlbaum family is happily unwrapping their Christmas gifts. After all the merriment, seven-year-old Marie receives a very special gift - a mysterious Nutcracker - from her beloved godfather Drosselmeier. When the house falls dark and silent, Marie discovers that this is no ordinary Nutcracker, but godfather Drosselmeier's nephew, who was transformed into a wooden toy by the curse of the evil Madame Mouserink. To break the curse, the Nutcracker must win the love of Marie and defeat the malicious, seven-headed Mouse King.
