Here is the perfect solution for those short training runs where you only need to carry the essentials and don't have any pockets in your shorts/tights.
These light-weight nylon taslon pouches clip onto the elastic hem of your shorts with two very flat (non-scratching) plastic tongues. The inside of the tongue even has plastic barbs to keep it from inadvertently slipping off. The nylon material will not become heavy and waterlogged with sweat.

You can fit a house or car key, several gel packets, salt or pain tablets, and coffee money into this handy pouch.
This is also a good place to keep your medical ID or emergency information.
You can also carry a cell phone in this pocket if it is one of the newer small ones like the Nokia 6230 that weighs 100gms. (2-3 oz.). It will not fall out, but isn't held tightly like specialized holders. You can still run with it and I didn't find it bothersome at all.

I show the pouch below with a standard PowerBar Gel sachet, but it will also fit Gu, Cliff Shotz and other shorter packages. The longer carboom and Squeezy sachets will need to be folded to fit.
There are two compartments for keeping your used (and sticky) gel sachets separate from the fresh ones (Please don't litter!).
