The front side is of metallic-like lustre. Producing this kind textile is very complicated. First, dipping cotton material into a tub of indigo, rinsing it in water, setting it out to dry. The darker the fabric, the more times it needs to be dyed. Then soaked the cloth in cowhide, pig's blood or a mixture of pounded persimmon peels and chestnut shells to add a red tinge, and to make the cloth stiff like starched. Finally, coated it with egg whites, pounded on a stone slab with a heavy wooden mallet until a metallic-like sheen is produced. The fabric is normally in two colors, deep brown or black.And all the textile were all HANDMADE!!  The whole colors matched so cultural which greatly showed the Chinese favor.  So appreciate the specialty from china and meanwhile, as you go through it , you will feel more about minority people .
