Over these past 16 years I have sold lots of various Lefton items including their basic retirement banks & figurines….however this is the first time I have come across the Lefton Grandmother Retirement by Fireplace planter.  She sits in her rocking chair, next to the fireplace…reading her “retirement” newspaper. There is a section to use as a planter or dry/plastic arrangement OR maybe can be used to hold a pair of glasses!

Made of ceramic and still has the Lefton Japan, Red foil sticker (Lefton Trademarks Exclusives Japan label) and faint incised number 4898

Beautiful color and depiction of a typical granny character... hair bun, reading glasses and vintage dress. Wonderful addition to any Lefton collection.  I’m going to grade hard to find, since I could not find another exactly like her.

Condition: No major issues. A brown paint touch up on the end of her rocker & teeny surface skin to the glaze near her right knee. A raised mold blurb on the inside bottom of the planter (smaller than a dime) in the making, years ago.

Was hand painted so you will see brush marks and strokes from the brush. These paint brush lines may not be even between colors... as a result. Fired glaze.  

Measures approximately: 7” long x 5” to the top of her chair. Soda can used only for size reference.
