Captain Sherbrooke participated in the Battle of the Barents off the coast of Norway in 1942.   As senior officer on the HMS Onslow, he repelled 4 attacks from the ships Hipper & Lutzow.   He directed the battle even though wounded in the faced and temporarily blinded.  His actions were pivotal in the Nazi's decision to scrap the Kriegsmarine initiative.
