Taizu Quan (Taizu Boxing) is one of the chief boxing styles in traditional Chinese Wushu, and Taizu Changquan is one of the eighteen Shaolin styles. Taizu Quan was created by Song Taizu (the first emperor of the Song dynasty). He created sixteen routines of Chang Quan. This disc demonstrates routines such as Taizu Chang Quan and Short Cudgel, as well as routines such as Hua Quan, Hua Quan-Routine I and Hua Quan-Routine II.

Shaolin Taizu Changquan: Shaolin Taizu Short Cudgel by Li ChengXiang DVD

 

The Shaolin Taizu Short Cudgel is also called a whip pole. The length of the cudgel is about thirteen times the width of the palm. This instructional video covers five-yin and seven-hand cudgel techniques. With quick and practical movements and a natural posture you can practice it as a continuous routine or freely combine the different techniques into a set exercise. It is a good traditional wushu routine.

Taizu Changquan is one of the principal boxing styles of traditional Chinese Wushu, and it belongs to the first family of the 18 families of Shaolin. Taizu Changquan is the first family because it was handed down by the first emperor of the Song Dynasty. Originally consisting of 16 sections of Changquan, the majority of them have been lost over hundreds of years, leaving only 6 sections, such as Routine I of Hua Quan and Routine II of Hua Quan.
