This art was created for Prince's after hours set at the DNA Lounge after a May 2013 performance at the Oakland Coliseum.
This poster was personally commissioned by Prince, who like an earlier, similar design David had done featuring Jimi Hendrix, also available.
These artist proofs are new, made in small batches, annotated, and hand-signed in pencil by David.

Prince asked David to create this poster in the image of a poster David almost didn't release, an early proposed image for Jimi Hendrix' Fillmore East debut In 1968. Hendrix rejected one of David's designs because it didn't include the whole band. David sat on the rejected sketches for decades and only a few years ago decided to release the original, unseen print. You can find it in my store.
Prince saw David's Hendrix masterpiece and wanted a similar one made with his own visage for an after-hours appearance at the DNA Lounge following an Oakland Coliseum performance.
