This offering is for a new-old-stock SR quill stem that measures 80 mm...measured from a profile view of the stem body with reference points at the center of the bar clamp opening to the center of the quill. We've also taken an angle measurement with a digital protractor and came up with a 70 degree stem angle. We're not 100% confident in the accuracy of our angle measurement, but we've taken due care to ensure we're close.

The finish is a polished silver, but it's fairly rough...so expect some heavy shopwear with these offerings. In spite of it's average cosmetic condition, this is still a decent quality forged alloy stem with chromoly steel hardware (and in these smaller sizes...a difficult find in a quill stem in today's market). They are fairly heavy at 300 grams, but this should translate into a durable offering with limited flex (at least relative to other stems in it's class)...and we especially like the wrap-around clamp design that conceals the clamp-bolt hardware when viewed from the top/front. We would not put them in the class of the vintage Cinelli X/A stem, but they're still a vintage (80's) offering out of Japan...so still a respectable model from this era. We just wish they were in better cosmetic condition, but functionally they should still be fine.

With respect to compatibility, please note the bar clamp opening most closely measures out to 25.4 mm size. We mention this, because while we can sometimes expand these smaller sized bar clamp openings a little (and in this case to about 25.6 mm or 25.7 mm with the clamp bolt loose), it's still difficult to expand them to accomodate the more standardized 25.8 mm/26.0 mm drop bar clamp sizing. Additionally, with just a couple turns of the wrench, the clamp area shrinks to below 25.4 mm with still more room left to tighten the stem clamp bolt. As a result, we would recommend only matching this stem with 25.4 mm bars (so older drop bars with this spec. or any number of upright bar models, which tend to have 25.4 mm clamp sizing). Additionally, the diameter of the steerer/quill is the relatively common 22.2 mm, which should fit into most 25.4 mm steerer tubes (outside diameter measurement). In other words, one of these stems should mount fine in most 1" threaded fork.

In terms of availability, we have a small box in this model/color/size and as noted above, there is heavy shopwear on all of them. Now having said this, we also want to be clear these stems are still new-old-stock and show no signs of ever having been mounted in a steerer tube. Listing Update...We have a handful left in this model/size.  As a result, we have begun updating the pictures to reflect the next one that will ship (although, I am not sure all of the shopwear is showing up in the pictures relative to what I see when inspecting the stem in person...and just want to be honest regarding this point). Please also note that while we have multiple quantities listed for sale, we will repeatedly update the pictures to reflect the next offering that will sell/ship.
