This is a lovely vintage pattern for a knitted grey donkey with crochet baskets etc; a crochet poodle and knitted parrot cushion cover in stocking stitch. The donkey and poodle are constructed in 4-ply and the cushion cover in D/K. You may wish to try modern 4-ply in place of the vintage 4-ply and for the vintage D/K try modern D/K but for both yarns work a tension square before embarking upon your chosen project and adjust needles as necessary. A lovely pattern in every way. 

MEASUREMENTS AND MATERIALS TAKEN DIRECTLY FROM PATTERN

GREY DONKEY: 

Materials- 4-ply wool; No.9 needles; No.12 crochet hook; cardboard; stuffing

Measurement- Height: 9 ins. from top of head to foot

Tension- 5 1/2 sts. and 8 rows to one square inch on No.9 needles measured over stocking stitch, using wool double. (wool is used double throughout).

POODLE (CROCHET):

Materials- 4-ply wool; No.12 crochet hook; 3/4 yard ribbon 1 inch wide; two buttons; stuffing

Measurement- Height: 12 ins. from top of head to foot

Tension- 6 1/2 sts. and 8 rows to one square measured over pattern.

PARROT CUSHION COVER:

Materials- D/K wool; No.7 needles

Measurement- 17 inches square

Tension- 4 1/2 sts. and 6 1/2 rows to one square inch on No.7 needles measured over stocking stitch.
