1889 (month is blurry) N.Y." Condition: very good Henry George was an American political economist and the most influential proponent of the "Single Tax" on land, also known as the land value tax. His most famous work was "Progress and Poverty", 1879. In 1886, now a popular writer and speaker, he ran for Mayor of New York City; he did not win.
