These are not First Generation Negatives but date from the 1890-1900 decade

Several of these are composites, or collage-style pages, and printer’s Plates were produced from these special process or proof negatives.

There has been masking with some kind of thin silver foil, as well as photo retouching of the people and architectural detail, in order to enhance the overall result when these layouts went to press to prepare Albertype for the final product - its view book of SANDY HOOK NJ
