Prisoner of War is a third-person action game that has players attempting to escape from a variety of prison camps during World War II, including the infamous Stalag Luft and the secure confines of Colditz Castle. As an American pilot named Lewis Stone, players must learn the daily routines of each camp before plotting a daring escape. An overhead-view radar is displayed in the corner of the screen while the action takes place from a perspective behind Captain Stone as he ducks, sneaks, and runs away from his German captors.  Original UK release as pictured above - 100% English.

In addition to devising an escape plan, carefully noting patrols, roll calls, and meal times, players will also steal cars, destroy communications equipment, and work with a variety of fellow prisoners to distract the enemy's attention. As Stone uncovers more about what the Nazis are planning, he vows to find a way to rendezvous with Winston Churchill's Special Operations Executive before it's too late.

It's the Second World War, you are Captain Lewis Stone, an American Flight Officer and reconnaissance operative. Shot down by the enemy while investigating suspicious activity around prisoner of war camps, you're going to have to resume your mission from the inside…

Whilst on a top secret reconnaissance mission for Allied intelligence flying high above northern Germany Captain Stone and his co-pilot Lieutenant James Daly are hit by anti-aircraft fire. Bailing out just in time, Stone parachutes straight into the hands of armed German soldiers. Out numbered and out gunned, Stone is forced to surrender himself to captivity in a POW camp.

When Stone stumbles across the Germans plans for a weapon of mass destruction, he makes it his duty to inform the Allies and destroy it at all costs; the outcome of the war rests in his hands. Stone's adventure will take him across Germany in a variety of different POW camps, using his ingenuity and stealth tactics to outwit the German war machine, crawling through muddy tunnels and over stone walls, using disguises and make shift equipment to escape and to prevent the destruction of Allied cities around the world.
