Authentic Imperial Japanese Army (IJA) NCO/Enlisted Men’s Simplified Lace-Up Boots.

These are original WWII-era issue boots made for Japanese Army non-commissioned officers and enlisted personnel. Unlike the standard leather-soled service boots, this simplified pattern features a thick rubber sole with a patterned rubber overlay. This type of rubber outsole was also reportedly used on some standard lace-up boots of the period.
The boots have only three lace eyelets, reflecting their simplified wartime production design. According to historical accounts, this simplified lace-up model—similar in concept to the cold-weather lace-up boots—was developed in preparation for operations in southern regions. They were intended for use in hot, humid climates as so-called “jungle boots.” However, some records suggest that front-line soldiers often preferred traditional jikatabi during field operations.
Due to limited surviving documentation and the relatively small number known to exist today, original simplified lace-up boots in good condition are scarce. Well-preserved examples such as this are considered valuable reference pieces for collectors and researchers of Imperial Japanese Army equipment.
