BESCHREIBUNG

Originale, sehr gut erhaltene, dekorative und kolorierte Kupferstichkarte von Schlesien mit den Regionen um Breslau, Glogau, Lignitz und Schweidnitz bis nach Böhmen, die Niederlausitz und Brandenburg.

Prächtige ornamentale Titelkartusche mit aufgesetztem Wappenkupfer, mehrere kleine Wappen im Kartenbild sowie Legende und ornamentaler Meilenanzeigerkartusche.

Text in Latein verso mit großer Holzschnitt-Initiale.

Willem Janszoon Blaeu war ein bekannter niederländischer Kartograph und Verleger. Er studierte bei dem berühmten dänischen Astronomen Tycho Brahe. Er ließ sich in Amsterdam nieder, wo er Instrumente und Globen verkaufte sowie Karten veröffentlichte.

Johannes Blaeu, Sohn von Willem, trat gemeinsam mit seinem Bruder Cornelis (1610-1648) nach dem Tod des Vaters in das Geschäft ein. Später erweiterte Johannes den Atlas novus seines Vaters erheblich.

ZUSTAND

In sehr guter Erhaltung. Kräftiger Druck, dekoratives, detailreiches Kolorit im zeitgenössischen Stil. Sauberer Druck. Im Rand wenig braunfleckig. Sehr festes Bütten mit Wasserzeichen.

Large ornamental title cartouche with coat-of-arms, some small coat-of-arms in the map, legend cartouche and ornamental cartouche with scale of miles.

Text in Latin verso with large woodcut initial.

Willem Janszoon Blaeu was a well-known Dutch cartographer and publisher. He studied under the famous Danish astronomer Tycho Brahe. He settled in Amsterdam, where he sold instruments and globes and published maps.

Johannes Blaeu, son of Willem, joined his brother Cornelis (1610-1648) in the business after the death of their father. Johannes later expanded his father's Atlas novus considerably.

In very good condition. Strong and very decorative print. Very nice colouring in manner of contemporary style. In the margin minimal brownstained. No tears, no cracks and no losses. Strong handmade paper with watermark.
