At first, the Yo Yo Band was a vocal quartet focusing mainly on black spirituals and gospel. 

They are considered pioneers of this style in Czechoslovakia. 

In 1980, however, half of the band members changed, and the Tesarik siblings were joined by Jindrich Malik and Ludek Walter. 

The musical style also changed, and elements of reggae began to appear in the group's musical repertoire. 

Four years later, only the Tesarik brothers and Miroslav Linhart, who played in the backing band Yo Yo Band, remained from the group. 

These three members formed a trio and the band began to focus on its own work. 

Later, trumpeter Roman Kubat joins the band and the band reorients itself to the latin and reggae style.

The Yo Yo Band grew by more members, Imran Musa Zangi on congas, Jan Mann on percussion and vocalist Jiri Sima were added.

In 1990, they released the LP Lehkou Chuzi (or Easy Walking), which also included the popular hit Kladno.

3 years later, the band releases the album Karvina, which a year later is nominated for 4 czech Grammys, of which it won three (Wiki).
