The SONY WM-EX5 "Mirror Man" was released in 1996. It is nicknamed "Mirror Man" due to its transparent cover, and it is a commemorative model celebrating the 50th anniversary of Sony Corporation.

① Battery Compatibility: This unit operates on a gumstick (rechargeable) battery only. The external AA battery case adapter does not work — a component required for that function is missing. Please ensure you have a compatible gumstick battery before purchasing.
② Protective Pads on Corners: The previous owner has applied adhesive scratch-protection pads to all four corners on both the front and back of the unit. These are visible and were not part of the original design.
③ Known Audio Issues: During playback, the following audio issues have been observed:
・A clicking sound is audible during playback.
・Slight wow and flutter is present.
・A squeaky/chirping noise (high-pitched) is mixed into the audio during high-frequency playback.
④ Non-Original Screws: Several screws on this unit have been replaced with non-original ones by a previous owner.
Although serviced, vintage cassette players may exhibit slight wow and flutter or speed variation depending on tape condition and batteries.
Overall, this unit is suitable for normal everyday listening.
