RIC VI Trier 213b var
**EXTREMELY RARE UNRECORDED
NEW TYPE**
An unrecorded new type for Galerius from Trier
with no reverse legend break; every RIC entry, OCRE reference, auction archive
and current retail offering has a break in the legend GENIO POP-VLI ROMANI
where the head of Genius comes between the P and V; this is currently the ONLY specimen known of its kind and thus I have added VAR to RIC VI Trier 213B to mark this as a variation of the type at large
A truly magnificent example of a very early type for Galerius that is as close to mint state as one can get with larger, Late Roman Bronze issues; it is truly interesting to think of the extremely minor features of these types that can separate a coin from extremely common issues to extremely rare issues, with many times we see the rarity of coin not due to a portrait or feature of the imagery, but for an extra dot or symbol or lack thereof!
All coins are authentic and from my own personal collection. If you have any questions please feel free to ask.
Over the coming weeks I will be adding more fixed price listings of Late Roman Bronze Coins so please check back with me.
If
there is any specific type you are looking for let me know. I have an
extensive Late Antique collection with AE and some AR issues dating from
the mid 3rd Century AD to the 8th Century AD
I
strive to make accurate impressions of the coins I list, thus my
listings tend to have a multitude of photos, taken under different light
sources and from different angles, as there is nothing worse (in my
opinion) than purchasing a coin and having it arrive looking nothing
like the photo!
Thank You
