Up for auction is this nice RARE ANTIQUE KNIGHTS TEMPLAR MASONIC HOC SIGNO VINCES BADGE MEDALLION SNAKE CROSS MEDAL FOR A SASH. Offered here is a very nice antique 1800's piece of masonic Knights Templar History. A large silver tone star shaped medal with a raised center- the center features a silver snake wrapped around a gold cross, rested against red velvet. The centerpiece is protected by clear celluloid or glass probably glass and bezel is set into the center. This was worn on an antique velvet shoulder sash.The bezel reads IN HOC SIGNO VINCES. Im not positive what the metal is on this but it looks like Sterling silver but it would need to be tested to confirm that.Coupld be Silverplate? The piece measures about 3.5" around and the back has a loop soldered on to the tip of each star point so it could be sewn on to a wide ribbon worn over the head and chest of royalty. They were also worn when they were in the military. The back of the piece is soldered on to hold the centerpiece in. The medal is in nice antique condition with age appropriate wear see pics - The silver metal does show tarnish and wear. This is great RARE Medal would make a nice addition to your collection.Thanks for looking
