The German 50 cent euro coin from 2004 features the Brandenburg Gate on the obverse, is made of Nordic Gold, and is legal tender throughout the Eurozone.Design and Composition The obverse of the 2004 German 50 cent coin depicts the Brandenburg Gate in Berlin, a neoclassical monument symbolizing Germany’s reunification, surrounded by the twelve stars of the European Union. The reverse features a map of the European Union, designed by Luc Luycx, showing the fifteen member states at the time, along with the coin’s denomination (50 EURO CENT) in Latin lettering. The German obverse was designed by Reinhart Heinsdorff. 

The coin is composed of Nordic Gold, an alloy consisting of 89% copper, 5% aluminum, 5% zinc, and 1% tin, giving it a distinctive golden color while being resistant to tarnishing. It has been in circulation since the introduction of the euro in 2002.
