A very fine antique Italian full-size (4/4) violin, labeled: "Carlo Antonio Testore, figlio maggiore del fu Carlo Giuseppe, in Contrada Larga al segno dell'Aquila, Milano 1731".
The instrument is in ready-to-play condition and shows old, professionally repaired cracks. It features a grafted scroll, a fine rosewood setup, and new strings.
The violin is made from high-quality tonewoods. The top is crafted from excellent straight, high-grained spruce, and the two-piece back is made of beautifully softly flamed maple, with matching ribs and scroll.
The whole length of the violin is 595 mm and the back 364 mm. The width of the upper bouts is 166 mm, the middle bouts 110 mm, and the lower bouts 208 mm.
The sound is very good, powerful, deep, and rich, making it suitable for solo performance.
