Wonderful mid century Chefmaster Decorating Kit in original box. Inside the box are 14 tips for leaf, writing, borders and flower making; a book titled "Now You Can Make Roses-- Cake Decorating For Beginners"; 2 stands- one for roses and one for flowers, and paper cones to use as decorating bags. Box measures 11"x 7-1/2"x 1-3/4".
According to the box, the kit is "Ideal for decorating Cakes, French Pastries, Candy Mints, Hors d'oeuvres, Salads, Ceramincs and Petits Fours" and it's "Designed For Use With Cake Icing, Cream Cheese, Whipped Cream, Mayonnaise, Mashed Potatoes and Ceramics". And you thought you could only decorate a cake with icing! :-)
The included black and white decorating book has a 1952 copyright date, but the last page, which is a supply list, gives a 1955 price list. Can you imagine ordering a hand turned hardwood Chefmaster Turn Table for just $4.95 (postage included!)?
While completely intact, the box does show considerable wear, including a large tear on the upper right and there is soiling as well as wear to to the edges and corners. Be sure to enlarge my photos so you can see the details. That said, the tips are all present and usable, the 16 page book is complete with easy to follow directions and photos of gorgeous decorated cakes. The tissue paper cones are still usable and are without tears. All in all, it will display well in a vintage kitchen or country store.
