The anniversary medal "40 years of heroic feat" is made of patinated polished brass and has the shape of a circle of golden color.
On the obverse of the medal in the central part, the fourth power unit of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant and two cranes with outstretched wings are depicted.
On the reverse side of the medal there is an inscription: "FOR PARTICIPATION IN THE LIQUIDATION OF THE CONSEQUENCES OF THE CHORNOBYL NPP ACCIDENT"
Diameter of the medal - 32 mm.
Thickness of the medal - 2.5 mm.
Interpretation of the symbolism
The image of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant reminds of the tragedy of April 26, 1986 and the unprecedented feat of people who, at the cost of their own health and lives, stopped the spread of the nuclear disaster.
The cranes in flight symbolize the immortality of the liquidators' feat and the memory of those who gave their lives saving humanity from the consequences of the nuclear disaster.
The laurel wreath represents the honor and gratitude of society, while the thorn branches emphasize the sacrifice and suffering that befell the liquidators. The medal and document are in new condition
