An enamel on sterling silver souvenir bracelet made by Breadner Manufacturing Company (BMCo) of Quebec. The bracelet is a linked chain of ten shields, each shield representing one of the ten provinces of Canada. It is 7 inches long overall. Each shield measures 1/2 inch wide and 5/8 inches high. The shields are linked by metal jump rings and the bracelet fastens with a snap closure. The shields are attached in geographical order, from Newfoundland on the far right across the country to British Columbia on the far left. Each shield has three lines inscribed on the back:
STERLING BMCo
Name of Province
MADE IN CANADA
The bracelet is in very good vintage condition. I have given the silver a light cleaning. There are very few signs of wear anywhere on the bracelet. The jump rings are all present and appear to be original. The snap clasp fastens easily and holds firmly. It appears to be original to the bracelet. Two of the shields have what appear to be manufacturing faults in the enamel. The Manitoba shield has a dark line across the left arm of the cross that looks and feels like a dribble of silver. On the Newfoundland shield, the red dye has bled onto the white cross in spots. (see last two photos)
