ER5356 (commonly referred to as AlMgS) is a 5% magnesium aluminum filler metal that is available for MIG or TIG welding processes.
The weld deposit of 5356 offers much better corrosion resistance when exposed to salt water.
Typical chemical composition %: Si=0.25; Fe=0.4; Cu=0.1; Mn=0.1; Mg=5.0; Cr=0.15; Zn=0.1; Ti=0.12; Al=balance.
Features and Applications: filler metal ER5356 rod for TIG welding welding process; general-purpose, all-position aluminum welding rod used to weld 5000 series aluminum base metals; it has relatively high shear strength as well as excellent corrosion resistance to salt water; shielding gas required, usually 100% Argon, Helium or mix.
