Antique 20th c. Chinese Famille Rose Bird and Flower Vase, Republic Period 12''

Dimension: 12 inches (30.48cm)

This is an exquisite Chinese famille rose porcelain vase, dated to 1933 (Guiyou Year, 22nd year of the Republic Period). It is a fine example of the highly sought-after "Zhushan School" style, decorated with the auspicious "Fu Gui Bai Tou" (Wealth and Honor, White Head) motif.

The slender, elegant gall-bladder form (danping) is hand-painted with two long-tailed magpies (shoudai niao) perched on rockwork amidst lush peonies, chrysanthemums, and bamboo, symbolizing prosperity, longevity, and marital bliss. The painting is exceptionally detailed, with vibrant colors and delicate brushwork typical of master artists of the era.

The neck and foot are adorned with intricate blue and red decorative borders, while the reverse features a poetic inscription in black ink: "Chun Jing Jia Se, Mu Dan Yan Li" (Beautiful Spring Scenery, Gorgeous Peonies), followed by the artist’s signature: "Guiyou Nian Xia Yue, Ji Shi Liang Ai Qin, Hui Yu Zhu Shan" (Summer of 1933, Technician Liang Aiqin, Painted at Zhushan). The base bears a blue square seal mark reading "Qianlong Nian Zhi", a common apocryphal mark used during the Republic period.

Condition: Good antique condition with a tiny professional chip repair to the rim, minor wear to the foot rim, and no cracks or hairlines. The glaze remains glossy and intact. Please examine all photos carefully for the exact condition.
