The HDR-HC9 is the final generation model of the Handycam consumer high-definition video camera (Handycam) released in 2008, using MiniDV tapes.
Recording Media: Video is recorded on MiniDV tapes (HDV standard), and still images are recorded on Memory Stick (PRO Duo / PRO-HG Duo).
Image Quality: Equipped with a 1/2.9-inch "ClearVid CMOS sensor," it is capable of 1440 x 1080i high-definition recording.
Lens: It employs a Carl Zeiss "Vario-Sonnar T*" lens with 10x optical zoom (20x digital zoom). The aperture is designed to be bright with an F-number of 1.8 to 2.9.
Manual Functions: It features comprehensive manual shooting functions, including spot metering and focus, peaking, center marker display, and histogram display.
Image Stabilization: Equipped with optical image stabilization (active lens system) that does not degrade image quality.
Still image function: In still image mode, it is possible to record images up to the equivalent of 6.1 megapixels. You can also simultaneously take photos equivalent to 4.6 megapixels while recording video.
