Plane Prototype History:
The C-119 Is A Piston Twin Engine Light Tactical Military Transport Aircraft Developed By The American Company Fairchild Industries In The Late 1940s, Based On The World War II C-82. It Is Also Known As The "Flying Boxcar" Or "Packet" And Is Used To Transport Cargo, Personnel, Patients, And Mechanized Equipment, As Well As To Parachute Down Cargo And Troops. The Prototype Test Flight Took Place On November 12, 1947. In Service From 1949 Until Production Ceased In 1955, A Total Of 1112 Variant Aircraft Were Produced, Becoming A Widely Used Transport Aircraft In The United States Air Force And Some Pro American Countries And Regions From The 1950s To The 1970s. The Design Of C-119 Originated From The Successful Development Of The C-82 Military Transport Aircraft In 1944. Specifically, The C-119 Was Converted From A C-82A, With Modifications Made To All Parts And Replaced With Two R4360 Air-Cooled Piston Engines. Compared With The C-82a, The Cockpit Has Been Moved To The Front Of The Nose, Improving The Visibility. The Shortcomings Of Insufficient Strength Of The Wings And Landing Gear Have Also Been Solved. The Cabin Has Been Widened By 0.36 Meters, And The Floor Has Been Modified For Carrying Heavy Materials. In Addition, The Wing Area Has Been Expanded And The Tail Wing Has Been Modified. The Design Of C-119G Is Highly Distinctive. Its Dual Tail Beam Structure And Short Cabin Fuselage Form The Iconic Appearance. The Single Wing Layout Is Advantageous For Takeoff And Landing, While The Two Engines Are Installed At The Front End Of The Tail Beam. Its Core Advantages Lie In Its Practical Carrying Capacity And Excellent Airdrop Performance. The C-119G Is One Of The Earliest Aircraft Models To Achieve Heavy Air Drop. Its Clamshell Shaped Cargo Door At The Tail And Unique Fuselage Structure Allow Cargo To Be Smoothly Loaded And Unloaded Between The Double Tail Beams, And Paratroopers Can Also Parachute From The Side Doors Of The Fuselage. The C-119G Itself Is An Improved Model Within The C-119 Series, Mainly Replacing The Propeller Based On The C-119F. After It, The C-119K Model Also Appeared With J-58 Turbojet Engines Installed Under The Wings To Enhance Power. The Aircraft Is Old, With Increasingly Outdated Flight Performance, Low Center Of Gravity, Severe Left And Right Shaking After Full Load, Poor Comfort, Frequent Engine Failures, And Inability To Climb High After Single Engine Shutdown. In The Korean War, Many Planes Crashed Into The Sea Due To Engine Accidents And Were Unable To Fly Back To The Luya Base. After Entering The 1980s, This Machine Was Only Used In A Few Underdeveloped Countries. After The Retirement Of C-119, Its Position Was Taken Over By C-130 Hercules Transport Aircraft.
