This is an antique CDV photograph showing a man in quite scruffy clothes posing with a BOWLING BALL ? in each hand. They could also be Cannon Balls too.

Looks like the balls are dated 1871 and 1872 respectively.

This is a strange photographers studio background which you can see is a country estate house garden painted on a screen at the back. The gent is stood facing the camera wearing CLOGS and long socks, long shorts which are patterned, with a belt and large brass buckle. He has a shirt on which has two toggles to the front chest with short sleeves and a waistcoat on top the shirt also short sleeves of course.

No other information is given - no photographer name or name of the man in the photo.

Please see close-up photographs provided for more details and visual confirmation of condition for yourself.
Normal signs of age and use wear, mostly on the edges and corners. The surface is a bit mucky.

It measures approx. 4 inches x 2 and 1/2 inches.

My stock ref : #LVT/M+C/wkg5Aug23 in CDV  folder #B.

Scale is usually an English 1 penny coin which is 20mm in diameter which is just short of 7/8ths of an inch in diameter, or a universal Coke can, and we all know how big those are.

If you see A/F = a/f in the title or description it means "as found" condition which may have scuffs, scratches and damage. In relation to all my listings it does not mean " about fine ". I have used A/F  for " as found " for 45 years.
