The star of the Sumiko ensemble
If a picture says more than a thousand words, Starling raises the question of what a sound image could be worth. The unique ability of the music to reach us with an intensity that goes far beyond what we can hear is already evident in the existence of our hobby. One can say that they are feelings that we chase, and if they are caused by the most convincing representation of their loved ones, these feelings can be all the more profound. A sound experience can be priceless, and we have designed the Starling system in such a way that it makes this experience in its system a reality. In addition to the resonance-optimized pickup housing and the generator we have taken over from the Songbird, the Starling has a rigid BOR booth, which is equipped with a Microridge needle with an extremely small mass. Microridge is a diamond cut that is valued worldwide for its uniformity with the simultaneous abundance. Rarely has this famous tip achieved such agility in the groove - especially not for the price of the Starling. What you experience are wonderfully floating sound images that you place exactly where you want to be - in the third row.
We are immeasurably happy about these recent newcomers in our Reference Open Body MC series. Our latest favorites - Songbird & Starling - are a strong refinement of our proven Blackbird & BPS EVO III designs. Our new generator is certainly anchored in a high stiff, resonance -optimized housing block and can develop its magic free of undesirable internal response with the highest control. The generator unit is flexible and robust and offers the highest possible sound fidelity in a perfect balance of clarity and drama. The result is a leading, holographic illustration across the sector with irresistible 'real' appearance. The starling provides a level of honesty and sophistication that we could not be proud and we look forward to hearing it.
The Sumiko Starling is suitable for moderate and heavy tonearms.

About Sumiko
Sumiko is a Japanese girl name that means "child of kindness" or "beautiful child".
From the Oyster models to the reference series, Sumiko produces every pickup in the land of smile. Very close to the waters in which the eponymous oysters (English: Oyster) live, and for a good 40 years.
The model lines: Oyster and Reference
The Oyster series includes the MM tone buyers Oyster, Black Pearl, Pearl, Rainier, OLYMPIA , Moonstone, Wellfleet and Amethyst as well as the MC Blue Point No. 3, which is available as high and low-output MC.
The Reference Cartridge series includes four MC models: Songbird, Starling, Celebration 40 and Palo Santos Presentation. The songbird is also available as a high and low-output MC variant. Songbird and Starling are open, so they have no housings. The generators of Celebration 40 and Palo Santos Presentation are installed in open wooden housings below.
All Sumiko pickers have a needle protection. This is particularly important for the housing -loose tone customers. Sumiko also knows that the eye can listen to and delivers its pickups in very valuable packaging.
Upgrade of the MM tone buyers
You can upgrade your Sumiko MM tone buyer by the simple exchange of the needle carrier. Important: All upgrade pickups are operated with the same contact power - after an upgrade of the needle insert, no judicial work is necessary.
Since Black Pearl and Pearl are identical to the stylus, a Pearl stylus enhances the Black Pearl to the Pearl. The generators also differ in the models Rainier to Amethyst. In this very beautiful report by Bernhard Rietschel from Lowbeats-Magazin, you can read details about the differences.
The advantages of the higher-quality needle inbush: lighter needle girders, a naked built-in diamond or a better grinding or a better polish of the diamond-against or with the structure of the diamond crystal grille-significantly improve the sound quality.
