An SGC NM 7 - 1906 WG3 Fan Craze NL game card of Mike O'Neill of the St. Louis Cardinals. The card has the player's name spelled incorrectly as "O'Neil", but the error was never corrected.
The Fan Craze Company of Cincinnati, Ohio issued sets of baseball playing card games in 1904 and 1906. The 1904 set was originally released in a playing card deck form and featured "plays" that would be drawn for each "turn". The 1904 cards feature white backs with the "Fan Craze" logo printed in red, with a red border surrounding the logo.
In 1906, the company issued sets for both the American League and National League, but the cards also included major league player photos and were advertised as "Art Series" cards. The 1906 cards were originally released in a separate deck for each league and playing card decks contained additional header cards with the Fan Craze logo. Player card fronts feature black & white photos with the player's name and team at the bottom and the "play" for the card game at the top. A.L. cards feature blue card backs with the "Fan Craze" logo, while N.L. cards feature red backs with the "Fan Craze" logo.
This example has no creasing, bold printing, good focus, nice centering and clean borders. The corners are consistent with those found on most NM+/NM-MT examples. There is some extremely light toning on the front, but the card still displays very well. The back is bright and clean with bold printing. Without the light toning, this card would be a strong candidate for an SGC 8 holder. Even as is, this is a very nice looking card for the grade that would not look out of place in an SGC 7.5 holder.Thank you for looking and check out our other eBay Buy It Now and Auction Items in our eBay Store!
This card would be a great addition to any collection!
