Built in 2020—the same year Mike Lull passed away—this instrument does not bear his signature on the back of the headstock, meaning it was not directly crafted by him. However, once you play it, the exceptional build quality makes that fact feel almost irrelevant.
True to the brand’s reputation, the neck is meticulously crafted and has been set up for an ultra-low action without compromise. You’ll notice attention to detail in every aspect, from fret edge finishing and recessed tuner bushings to pickup noise reduction and wiring durability measures. The neck joint screws use three different types, so be mindful if you ever remove the neck.
The pickup manufacturer could not be identified, but it features staggered pole pieces with a high-output character. Combined with the low action, it drives an amp easily with a light touch. It pairs particularly well with modern distortion pedals like Darkglass, making it especially suitable for Japanese players.
The frets show minimal wear (over 90% remaining). The neck is in excellent condition, and while the truss rod feels slightly stiff with about 90° of adjustment left, it responds well and precisely, so there is no cause for concern.
