History
The 1991 series of Soviet banknotes was introduced during a time of major political and economic changes in the Soviet Union. Inflation and monetary reforms led to new denominations and redesigned banknotes. Later the same year the Soviet Union dissolved, making these notes among the last official banknotes issued by the USSR.
