Antique Copper Emperor Guangxu Commemoration Coin of China
Size (size): 36 millimeters
This face follows the classic design of "Cash" coins but without the center hole (frequent in later mechanized coins).
Center: The four characters that are read top to bottom and right to left are 光緒元寶 (Guāngxù Yuánbǎo), which means "Guangxu Emperor Value Coin".
Design: In the center is a small square that mimics the hole of antique coins, with a small decorative symbol inside.
Material: A gold-tone brass is observed, indicating an alloy of copper and zinc.
This face is very rich in administrative information:
Upper: The characters 吉林 (Kirin/Jilin) indicate the issuing province.
Lower: The characters 官局造 (Guān jú zào) mean "Minted by the Official Mint".
Right and Left: They indicate face value and system. Appears 制錢 (standard currency) and left 五十箇 (Wǔshí gè), which means "50 pieces" (equivalent to 50 antique cash).
Patina: It exhibits very even wear. The characters are a bit "softened" by use, but they are still perfectly legible.
