This is the black fountain pen from Pelikan’s iconic Souveran M400 series. The M400 is known for its compact and well balanced size, making it easy to handle while still offering the full experience of a classic piston filling fountain pen. The black version has a particularly understated and elegant appearance, making it suitable for both business use and everyday writing. The early models introduced in the mid 1980s are known for having distinctive details specific to the early production period.
This piece features the classic design typical of the early M400. Early examples have differences in nib design and the cap top emblem compared with later versions. Unlike the striped Souveran models, the black barrel includes an ink window, allowing you to easily check the remaining ink level. It retains the lightweight feel and refined presence that Pelikan fountain pens are well known for.
The nib is a B (Broad). As expected from a broad nib, it produces a generous line width that allows you to enjoy ink shading and a smooth writing feel, making it well suited for relaxed writing. There are no visible signs of damage or misalignment, but since the nib is relatively soft, ink skipping may occur depending on writing conditions and minor adjustment may be required.
The condition is Near Mint. There may be minor signs of age or storage such as light surface marks, but there are no noticeable major scratches, cracks, chips, or mechanical issues. Overall it remains in very clean condition with minimal signs of use. Please check the photos for detailed condition.
This listing is for the pen body only.
