Overview

Large reflective diffraction grating on a thick glass substrate (“glass block”). Mirror-like grating face produces strong rainbow dispersion/diffraction. Plexiglass protective cover included (blue painter’s tape is only used to hold the cover in place for storage).

Size: Measured approx. 29 mm thick × 135.27 mm × 163.93 mm (about 5.5" × 6.33").

Markings

• Box label indicates: 5.5" × 6.5", 400 lines/mm (L/mm −1), blaze angle 9°44′.
• Back Bausch and Lomb label is present but not fully legible in photos or in person.

Condition

• Used. Moderate wear/spotting on reflective surface; see photos, no major damage noted.
• Protective plexiglass cover present.

Quick Function Check

• With the grating approx. 5 ft from a wall, a green laser produces distinct diffraction orders. Measured separation is ~14 in from 0th order to +1, and ~14 in from 0th order to −1 (symmetric), consistent with a ~400 lines/mm class grating.
• Photos show the diffraction behavior.

Weight: Glass block weighs 4 lb (without packaging).
